Ecclesiastical Governance and Organization
Independent Faith Church Structure
The Independent Faith Church (IFC) operates with a simple structure:
- CIFC Board of Directors
- President / Presiding Minister (also a Board Member)
- Treasurer
- Administrative Staff
- Congregational Level
- Congregational Ministers
- Congregational Treasurer
- Congregational Staff (as needed)
Leadership and Responsibilities
The CIFC Board of Directors oversees the Corporation of the Independent Faith Church (CIFC) in non-spiritual matters. The Board’s responsibilities include authorizing capital expenditures, salaries, charitable contributions, legal matters, and real estate acquisitions. The President / Presiding Minister is appointed by a Board majority vote every six years, with the option for an emergency vote of “no confidence” if 100% of the Board concurs.
The President / Presiding Minister and all Ministers are encouraged to focus on spiritual and executive duties and delegate day-to-day operations to the administrative staff to maintain their focus on the church’s mission.
Financial Accountability
The Treasurer (and Congregational Treasurers) are responsible for all financial records, including tracking donations and expenditures, maintaining accurate books, managing accounts payable, and ensuring fiscal compliance.
- Administrative Staff are hired or volunteer as needed to support the treasury and Minister’s office in operational tasks.
- Treasurers serve as the first point of authorization for expenditures but do not have signatory authority on bank accounts. Final approval and check-signing authority rest with the Presiding Minister.
This structure allows the Independent Faith Church to function efficiently while focusing on its core mission.
